Several climate characteristics of the Bohinj area are related to the position of the region itself. Due to the fact that the landscape is located in a basin, it is often exposed to atmospheric inversion. Bohinj has a relatively harsh Alpine climate with cold winters and short summers. Precipitation is the highest in autumn, sunny weather is most frequent at the end of winter and in early spring, and snow cover is the thickest in February and March.
