 Temperatures
Average annual temperatures in the lowlands of the Bohinj region are about 8o C. The warmest month in both, the valley and the mountains is July. The coldest month in the valleys is January, while the lowest temperatures in the mountains are in February. In winter, temperatures often drop below 20 oC.
Average summer temperatures in Bohinj are about 9 oC higher than in spring, the same difference applies to the temperatures in the midlands (to 1500m) and highlands (above 1500 m).
In the Gorenjska region and in the mountains, autumn is warmer than spring. At that time of the year there are no more typical summer afternoon storms, temperatures are more pleasant for demanding walks, only the days are shorter than in summer. In October, a distinctive period of warm weather, called the "Martin" summer (i.e. the Slovene name for Indian summer), sometimes occur.
