Waters One can easily be fooled by the dry region at higher altitudes, but this is actually the characteristic karst landscape that is hiding invaluable water riches. Water has created valleys, gorges, channels and cave systems throughout the history. Water network is crated in the grounds of the karst land. Underground rivers and waters burst out in the numerous karst springs of the Alpine valley. In the highlands, water can only be found in some rare impermeable areas. The following types of waters can be distinguished: surface and underground waters, standing and flowing waters. Lake Bohinj, the largest and most beautiful permanent natural lake in Slovenia, the Triglav Lakes, the well known Savica Waterfall, the picturesque Mostnica channels and many other waters, channels, waterfalls, karst springs and moors are to blame that the water riches of Bohinj are exceptional in their occurrence and shape.
