The “Bohinjka” corn is an autochthonous type of corn of yellowish to dark red colour, adapted to the alpine world. The typical dish “žganci” is made from roughly milled flour and has a specific taste.
At this short tour that starts at the Triglav National Park Centre in Stara Fužina, continues past the Alpine Dairy Farming Museum to Andrejčev mlin mill from the 19th century, you will learn everything about the Bohinj corn and its cultivation.
You will end the preparation of a local dish called “žganci” by tasting it. While preparing the meal you will learn how the corn is manually planted, weeded, peeled and traditionally processed to preserve our heritage and clean environment.
