SNOW SHOEING ON SORIŠKA PLANINA

This is a guided snow shoeing tour on the slopes of Soriška planina and the nearby hills.

Explore the sights of Soriška Planina and lower Bohinj mountains by going on a traditional snowshoeing tour. This is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that is accompanied by magnificent views, fresh air and more information about the area.

 

OVERVIEW

  • Programme duration: approx. 2,5 to 3 hours
  • The programme is available from December to April in favourable snow conditions
  • Difficulty: easy-moderate
  • Minimum number of participants: 10 persons (max: 45 persons)
  • This tour is also appropriate for families with children (older than 8 yrs).

SHORT DESCRIPTION

Initially, we teach you how to use and set snowshoes and then we start walking from Soriška Planina (1306 m) to Lajnar Mountain (1549 m). Along the way, we will see the typical bunkers with metal domes and numerous underground hallways. These are the Italian fortresses built between WWI and WWII, the so-called Alpine Wall – the Rapallo border.

WHO CAN GO ON SNOW SHOEING TOURS?

Snowshoeing can be done by everyone who like walking, snow and nature. Everything you need is snowshoes, poles and a blanket. We provide professional guidance that will make your trail easier, more interesting and entertaining.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A SNOW SHOEING TOUR?

You need equipment that is required for any winter hike. We recommend you to wear warm socks (skiing or hiking socks), warm and comfortable shoes as well as weather appropriate clothes (hats, gloves). As the sun is very strong in the mountains, do not forget the sunglasses and sunscreen!

WHERE WILL THE TOUR TAKE PLACE?

The snowshoeing tour takes place on Soriška Planina. The location of the guided tour can be adapted to wishes and physical abilities of participants. An adapted tour depends on snow conditions of the location.
