The steam train takes us along the Bohinj railway to the final station in Kanal, where buses wait for us. Together with guides, we ride along the Soča river past Anhovo and Plave to the most remote western Slovenian region of Goriška Brda.
On the way to Dobrovo, we stop next to the 23 m high panoramic tower in Gonjače, which offers magnificent views of the Brda region and, if the weather is nice, also of the Friuli region, the Julian Alps and the Karst. The tour continues past the medieval village of Šmartno to the centre of Goriška Brda, the village of Dobrovo. We stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Prior to heading back home, we will visit the largest wine cellar in Brda, where some of the best Slovenian wines can be bought. We take the steam train in Nova Gorica and head back to the Gorenjska region.
