The Via Alpina hiking trail encompasses 5000 km of trails that take us through a unique Alpine world which stretches across eight countries. In Slovenia, the Via Alpina walking trails run across all three high mountain ranges: the Julian Alps, the Karavanke and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. In Bohinj, the trails run from Bohinjska Bistrica along the ridge of the lower Bohinj mountain range to the Triglav Lakes Valley. See what benefits are encompassed in the Via Alpina hiking package.

Bohinjska Bistrica (512 m) – Ravne (791 m) – Orožnova koča (1338 m) – Črna Prst (1844 m)
Hike duration: 3 hrs 30 min
After an early breakfast, you start in Bohinjska Bistrica, walk past the Ravne village and to Orožnova koča hut on the Za Liscem pasture. This was once the first hut of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association. It was built in 1894. After a short rest, you ascend the Črna Prst mountain, i.e. to the alpine hut, where you have dinner and stay overnight.
Črna Prst (1844 m)- Vogel (1540 m)
Hike duration: 5 hrs
Črna Prst mountain is known for diverse flora that has been attracting botanists for more than 200 years. It got its name (Črna Prst = black soil) after black soil that emerges at the disintegration of less resistant and dark-coloured clay stone that accumulates on the Triassic limestone. After breakfast, you start the hike towards Mt Vogel. The trail mostly runs along the ridge and is quite exposed in some places. The ridge offers magnificent views of the Primorska and Gorenjska regions, if the weather is nice, views can also reach the Adriatic Sea. Then you stay and have dinner in one of the cottages on Mt Vogel.
Vogel (1540 m) – Komna (1520 m) – Triglav Lakes hut (1685 m): 3 hrs
Vogel (1540 m) – Komna (1520 m) – Savica hut (653 m): 2 hrs
After breakfast, you start your hike along the hiking trail below the ridge of the lower Bohinj mountain range and hike to the Komna hut. The Komna high mountain plateau is a world of precipices, steep rocks, stories and legends, since the Goldhorn or the keeper of the mountain world lived here. After a short rest, you can decide to continue the hike to the Triglav Lakes hut, where you can enjoy the views of the most beautiful corners of the Alps. Or you can return along the former Isonzo Front hinterland supply trail to the valley and the hut near the Savica Waterfall. Dinner and accommodation are possible at the Triglav Lakes hut or in a chosen tourist facility in the valley.
Triglav Lakes hut (1685 m) – Dedno polje pasture (1560 m) – Pri Jezeru pasture (1453 m) – Vogar (1054 m) – Stara Fužina (600 m)
Hike duration: 5 hrs
The last day of the tour encompasses a hike from the Triglav Lakes hut past the Ovčarija and Dedno polje pastures to the Pri Jezeru pasture, where you can enjoy in a short rest. The panoramic site on the Vogar pasture offers a magnificent view of the surrounding area. You continue to the Stara Fužina village. Accommodation is possible in the chosen tourist facility in the valley. If you decided to descend on the fourth day from Mt Komna to the Savica hut, you leave after breakfast.
Departure after breakfast.
