Chess course

Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, it’s time for chess at Bohinjska Hiša.

The chess club at Bohinjska Hiša is led by Mr. Gabriel Jurman from the chess section of the Bohinjska Bistrica Pensioners’ Association. The club is suitable for all age groups who want to learn and play chess.

Yoga with Tamara: Hatha Flow in the Room with a View

Join us for a yoga class where we will focus on mindful stretching, deep breathing and finding flow through movement. The class will be held in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where you will be able to discover the magic of Hatha Flow Yoga, which combines elements of breath, meditation and physical postures (asanas).⁣

What can you expect?⁣
In this class we will explore the Hatha Yoga postures, integrating them into a smooth choreography of movement and breath. The class begins with a short meditation and breathing exercises, followed by a sun salutation warm-up, then gentle transitions between static postures that activate the whole body. The aim of the practice is to achieve greater body awareness and calm the mind. After the practice you will feel focused, light and energised.⁣

Registration by e-mail or SMS is required before the first visit.⁣
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start time to calm down and prepare.⁣
We practice barefoot and in comfortable clothes.⁣
Equipment (mats, blocks, straps) can be borrowed on site.⁣

About the yoga teacher: With her extensive knowledge of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, Tamara helps participants find a balance between body and mind. She currently teaches different styles of yoga in Bohinj and Sorica.⁣

Handicraft Embroidery Workshops at Bohinjska Hiša

We invite you to join our embroidery workshops, where, under the expert guidance of Irma Zupanc from Jereka, you will learn about various embroidery techniques and traditional motifs. Embroidery, known as a precious heritage of our grandmothers, remains one of the most popular forms of handcraft today. Preserving and passing on this knowledge to younger generations is an important part of our cultural heritage that we strive to maintain.

During the workshops, you will have the opportunity to create a unique Easter tablecloth, crafted under the watchful eye of an experienced mentor. Whether you are a beginner or already skilled in embroidery, we invite you to join us and help keep this tradition alive.

Creative Workshop: Wool Figurine Making

This advanced needle felting workshop is designed for adults and children (10+) who are already familiar with the basic felting techniques and wish to enhance their skills. Under expert guidance, participants will create a wool figurine and learn advanced shaping and detailing techniques.

Workshop Goals:

  • – In-depth understanding of needle felting
  • – Creation of a unique wool figurine
  • – Proper use of tools and different types of wool
  • – Development of creativity and manual skills

Workshop Duration: 3 hours

About the Instructor:
The workshop is led by Petra Vengar, a master of needle felting with extensive experience in artistic wool crafting. Her handmade creations, including figurines, angels, and Christmas scenes, are well-known in Slovenia and abroad.

This workshop is suitable for those who are already familiar with needle felting and have attended a beginner workshop.

The main event of Bohinj’s Cultural Holiday

The Municipality of Bohinj celebrates the Cultural Holiday every year with a main event that honors the rich cultural heritage of the region. The event will feature performances by the Women’s Choir of the Bohinj Cultural Society, the Bohinj Hunting Horn Players, the Franc Urbanc Male Choir from Bohinjska Češnjica, and the Radovljica Music School, who will enrich this special evening with their performances.

You are invited to join this unforgettable event and enjoy outstanding performances that represent the vibrant cultural pulse of Bohinj!

Jogalates

It’s a combination of yoga and pilates. Basically it’s a complete workout, designed for people who love and need yoga for their body, mind, soul, posture and health, but also crave a bit of motion and action. There are also touches of pilates, which helps to understand how to control your body with every move. Botanical Drawing Circle in Bohinj House

We invite you to enroll in the botanical study drawing course under the guidance of Caroline Ann Yvonne Bernik, a graduate of the Society of Botanical Artists in the United Kingdom.

During these sessions, participants will explore a variety of plants – from roots to flowers – and depict them artistically using polychromatic colored pencils. Through this process, they will also gain botanical knowledge and develop precision in illustrating the plant world.

Evening Lantern Walk

With a licensed guide, you’ll explore the enchanting surroundings of Ribčev Laz, with the soft glow of lanterns lighting your path. In a relaxed pace, you’ll experience a one-hour guided walk offering a unique opportunity for a different kind of evening adventure. Along the way, you’ll learn interesting facts about the Church of St. John the Baptist, uncover the rich history of Triglav National Park and Lake Bohinj, and listen to local stories and legends that add a special charm to Bohinj.

This activity is perfect for all generations – romantic and relaxing for adults, exciting and mysterious for children. The path is flat and easy, making it suitable for all ages.

Svetiča narave – book presentation

Triglav National Park and A. T. Linhart Library Radovljica (Stara Fužina branch) invite you to the presentation of the book Svetiča narave (Sanctuaries of Nature) by Irena Cerar, which won the Grand Prize of the Slovenian Book Fair for the 2024 Book of the Year.

The conversation with the author will be led by Ana Marija Kunstelj.

To write this book, Irena Cerar—storyteller and author of popular travel guides—set herself a unique challenge: she spent seven weeks in nature, immersing herself in Slovenia’s most distinctive habitats (forests, caves, mountains, wetlands, rivers, the seashore, and cultural landscapes). She didn’t just experience them as a hiker or traveler but as an attentive observer. Through this journey, she combined personal reflection with expert writing on Slovenia’s biodiversity.

Her path also led her to Triglav National Park, specifically Planina Laz… A special guest and conversation partner at the event will be Lucija Gartner, the majerica (herder) from Laz.

The book will be available for purchase at the event.
