65. Traditional Cows’ Ball
17. September, 10:00 - 18:00
The Cows’ Ball is the oldest event, which until the 1950s was mainly a feast for the locals, who, together with shepherds and caterers, celebrated the end of the tourist and grazing season. The Bohinj Tourist Board has been organizing the event for more than 60 years. The event is attended by shepherds, who bring decorated herds of cattle from higher altitudes and carry on their shoulders a ‘basenga’ – everything they need to make cheese and other things necessary for life on the mountain. In idyllic Ukanc, we always provide a rich program with a good ensemble, folklore and brass band, as well as good home-made food and drink. The Cows’ Ball is a real Bohinj feast not to be missed.
