Experience the peak of the summer season in Bohinj with fun for all generations. The evening programme includes several musical guests, attractive inserts and much more. The party will last until 03.00 in the morning, so our guests can dance through a wonderful night.
For this year’s Bohinj Night, until 2019 known as Kresna noč, the Bohinj Tourist Board will make sure that its environmental footprint is as small as possible. While planning the event, we have tried to balance the wishes of locals and visitors for a spectacular central summer party with our commitment to nature preservation and sustainable development in the Triglav National Park. That’s why we will make some adjustments to this year’s Bohinj night.
We will arrange bus transport to and from the event. We have hired 5 buses that will run free of charge throughout the night in the Upper and Lower Bohinj valley and to Ukanec, allowing most visitors to enjoy a carefree visit to Bohinj Night. This will reduce the pressure of motor traffic on the lake area. There will also be no closure of the main road.
We will no longer pollute the environment with lights in eggshells. This is the second most noticeable change in recent years, after the withdrawal of the fireworks show, which really did not belong in a national park. More than five thousand lights traditionally lit up the lake, illuminating the lake surface. The tradition, which had an attractive visual effect, unfortunately also had an impact on the environment. Each time we, as organisers, have tried to remove the lights from the water after the event, sometimes better, sometimes worse.
Why did we say no to the lights?
By putting lights on the lake, we are polluting the water to a certain extent, as well as the air. Did you know that paraffin (or paraffin wax), which is a component of egg lights, is produced as a by-product of making petrol from raw oil? Paraffin wax also produces toxic fumes and carcinogens (e.g. benzene, toluene, formaldehyde) when it burns, and can cause redness, irritation, itching or even skin diseases if it comes into contact with the skin.
There will be plenty of activities with attractions on the water and in the Pod Skalco event area. In the same time, there will be good music for all tastes and generations, as well as good food and drink.
Join us on the longest summer night in Bohinj!
