Explore the rich plant life of the Goričca nature trail, a true treasure trove of wildflowers, ferns, and mosses. Led by an experienced guide, you will learn about the characteristic plant species of this area and discover their unique properties and ecological significance.
The name Goričca means “small mountain,” a name that reflects its botanical diversity. This small hill is home to over 200 different plant species, ranging from wildflowers to mosses. The southern slopes are covered with plants typical of limestone sun-exposed habitats, while clusters of deciduous trees resemble miniature mixed forests.
Floral diversity can be observed almost year-round. Among the first heralds of spring, black hellebore, liverwort, primroses, and violets bloom early in the season. The area is also home to several poisonous plants, such as Solomon’s seal, lily of the valley, and deadly nightshade, as well as medicinal and edible plants, including blackthorn, rosehip, and lungwort.
All the plants along this educational trail grow naturally, without human intervention. Botanists have simply marked and identified them to support education and awareness about nature conservation.
For a complete nature experience, combine the botanical tour with a floral-inspired menu at Gostišče Danica. Let yourself be surprised by the flavors of nature, inspired by the wild plants of this region. Package tickets will be available soon.
