Guardians of the Treasure is a winter art project that invites you to explore Ceconi Park in Bohinjska Bistrica. The project focuses on intertwining natural and cultural heritage, raising awareness about the importance of the natural environment, and discovering the treasures that each visitor carries within themselves – as both a guardian of the treasure and a treasure itself.

The path through the park is full of surprises: illuminated hanging elements, intricate networks inspired by Slovenian embroidery motifs, and sculptures representing elements of nature guide you from one treasure to the next. Mirrors on trees, light effects, and interactive installations, such as rotating “stars,” invite you to engage, observe, and reflect. Along the way, you’ll also encounter the legendary Zlatorog and a nativity scene set in a beautifully decorated pavilion.

The project primarily uses recycled and natural materials – polystyrene, 100% cellulose-based textiles, iron wire, and wood – highlighting the creators’ dedication to sustainability and environmental care. The magic of the space is enhanced by lighting that is modern yet respectfully integrated into the natural surroundings.

The installation is designed for everyone – families, young people, tourists, and art enthusiasts. It is open for exploration at your own pace – with no fixed schedule or program, allowing for a relaxed and unique experience at any time. However, for the best visual effect, we recommend visiting in the late afternoon or evening, when the lighting reveals the full charm of the space.

The installation will be on show from 15 December to 7 January 2025.
