UPDATES ON HIKING TRAILS IN BOHINJ

Some of the trails in Bohinj are closed. For safety reasons please get well informed and plan your hikes accordingly.

Due to fallen trees and landslides, some paths in Bohinj are closed (in the valley and high mountains).

For your safety, we ask for your patience and caution, as well as strict adherence to closed sections. When planning trips, be well informed and take advantage of safe alternatives. We kindly ask you for your understanding, patience, and caution. HOW TO PLAN A SAFE HIKING TRIP?
THERE IS NO SPONTANEITY IN HIKING!

  • Choose your destination carefully: consider your fitness level, fitness level of your hiking partners, the time you need to get there (and back), the season of the year…
  • Research thoroughly: weather prognosis, possible closures on the chosen trail, accommodation and shelter options (opened huts), are there any limitations in protected areas, do you need insurance…
  • Equip accordingly: proper footwear and clothes, printed maps, enough water and food, additional equipment needed (for snow, for rain…)
  • Prepare and learn: get fit, make sure you know how to use the equipment you need on your hike, how to safe the battery life of your telephone, how to survive in worst-case scenarios, how to behave in different situations, whom to call if you have an accident…
  • Hire a guide if you are not sure you are up to the challenge.
  • Plan like you life depends on it!
    Because it just might do.

Restoring damaged forests

While walking around Bohinj, you might be entering some areas of salvage logging due to the windfalls and emergence of bark beetle. We kindly ask you to follow the signs and the instructions of foresters. Thank you for your patience and caution.
