At the trailhead, the view of Lake Bohinj and the Triglav mountain range inspire everyone. The hike is not demanding and mostly runs on the ski slopes and along the hiking trail. Info boards at the trailhead contain information about the flora and fauna of Vogel. The Dolga Planja archaeological site along the way presents and describes the archaeological specialities of the area.\u00a0 There used to be a lodge here but only rectangular stone foundations have been preserved. The foundation used to carry the walls of horizontal wooden beams and a gable roof, probably covered with wooden shingles or bark. The interior was used to provide shelter in bad weather and store food and tools.
