On Saturday, 3 October<\/strong>, the \u2018Bite Bohinj\u2019 street food event, featuring Bohinj-style cuisine<\/strong>, will take place once again at the market in Bohinjska Bistrica. The event, which for one day moves Bohinj\u2019s cuisine from inns and restaurants to a more relaxed street food setting, is primarily aimed at tasting, socialising and getting to know various vendors all in one place. There will also be live acoustic music at the event.<\/p>

This time, the event will combine cuisine with literature, as the Bohinjska Bistrica Theatre will stage a commemorative literary recital, ‘Beseda, ki ostaja’ (The Word That Remains)<\/strong>, dedicated to the works of Sre\u010dko Kosovel, Zofka Kveder and Ivan Cankar, at 3.00 pm, 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

From October 9 to 18,<\/strong> the fall Restaurant Week<\/strong> will take place, an annual event that brings together select Slovenian restaurants and their special menus. During this time, visitors to Bohinj will be able to sample the menus at the restaurants Pri Lovcu<\/strong> and Pri Hrvatu<\/strong>. If you\u2019re someone who enjoys getting to know a destination through a slightly more thoughtful, multi-course culinary experience, this is one of the best reasons to visit in the fall.<\/p>

Between October 14 and 18, Gosti\u0161\u010de Lajnar<\/strong> on Sori\u0161ka Planina will host \u201cCulinary Colors of Fall\u201d\u2014a culinary experience dedicated to the seasonal flavors of this time of year.<\/p>

You can round out your fall visit to Sori\u0161ka Planina at the table with a menu that combines seasonal ingredients and the creativity of the kitchen team. You can choose between a 3-course menu and an expanded 5-course culinary experience, and wine pairings will also be available.<\/p>

WHEN CHEESE AND WINE MEET<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

24 October<\/strong> marks the Cheese and Wine Festival<\/strong><\/a>. Bohinj has a special connection with cheese-making, which is closely linked to alpine dairy farming, agriculture and the way of life in the valley; as a result, cheese plays a far greater role in the local cuisine than simply being an item on the menu.<\/p>

At the event, you\u2019ll be able to sample a variety of cheeses and wines, meet the producers and learn about their production methods, and stop by the stalls offering local produce. The festivities will be accompanied by a musical programme featuring the band Kranjci, and there\u2019ll be plenty for the little ones to enjoy, with entertainment, workshops and face painting.<\/p>

THE AUTUMN HOLIDAYS ARE ALSO A TIME TO GET COOKING<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Autumn Holidays will be an opportunity not only to sample the flavours of autumn, but also to create them yourself. At the \u2018Today the Children Are Cooking<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 workshop, led by chef Matev\u017e Zalokar, the little ones will be doing the cooking, whilst the parents will mainly be tasting the results this time. At the cheese-making workshop<\/a> <\/strong>at the Gartner Tourist Farm, you\u2019ll learn about cheese production, make your own cheese and herb butter, and sample the farm\u2019s homemade produce.<\/p>

As part of the Bohinj Fly-Fishing Festival, the programme will also feature two more culinary experiences centred around fish. At the children\u2019s \u2018fish\u2019 cookery workshop<\/strong><\/a>, children will learn how to clean and prepare fish alongside chef Matev\u017e Zalokar, whilst the following day the Bohinj Fishing Family will showcase its work and also take care of grilling the fish<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On Monday, December 14<\/strong>, some of Bohinj\u2019s finest food providers will come together once again for a special seven-course culinary evening<\/strong>. The highlight of the evening is the collaboration itself: each course is prepared by a different vendor, allowing guests to experience several distinct culinary styles of Bohinj in a single menu.<\/p>

In recent years, this event has become one of the most popular culinary evenings in Bohinj, which is why we\u2019re announcing it a little earlier this year.<\/p>
