      MORE DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPERIENCE:<\/h3>\n

      Our cycling and culinary journey commences in Bohinjska Bistrica, starting with a scenic ride along the Bohinj Cycle Route, leading us towards the picturesque Lake Bohinj. We will have our first stop at Pr’ Ronik Farm. We will see how maize grows and how much work it is. You can see that nothing goes without hard-working hands and good will. Participants receive a small bag of grains and the story of the “\u017eganci” begins. <\/span><\/p>\n

      The trail leads on to Stara Fu\u017eina, home to the only still-operating water-powered mill in this part of Gorenjska. Inside the mill, you can hear the sound of stones grinding and the babbling of the brook – this is how corn was ground here centuries ago. Visitors help to grind the corn kernels, sow the flour and learn that each flour has its own weight, smell and character. <\/span><\/p>\n

      From the mill we will go to the centre of the Triglav National Park in Stara Fu\u017eina, where we will meet a member of the Farmers’ Wives and Girls Association. She will show us how to make real \u017eganci from coarse flour. The cooking is done slowly, over a fire and with feeling. When the \u017eganci are ready, everyone tastes them together – with sour milk, cracklings or summer vegetables. <\/span><\/p>\n

They range from yellow and orange to dark red and almost black. In the past, corn was an important part of the daily diet, as it was eaten in the form of corn porridge, which was most often served with sweet or sour milk and with sour cabbage or turnips. <\/p>\n
