You are cordially invited to the presentation of the book “Mountaineering in Bohinj: ‘I left all my life in cheese’.” The author, Anka Novak, spent her professional life as an ethnologist curator from 1959 to 1992 at the Gorenjska Museum, where she researched the pastoralism of Bohinj. Among other things, she arranged the permanent exhibition at the Mountain Farming Museum in Stara Fužina. The book is the result of ten years of work, including field research on the mountains, gathering information from local people, and studying literature and archival sources.

The book was published by the Gorenjska Museum and co-financed by the Triglav National Park and Tourism Bohinj. It will be presented by Saša Roškar from the Slovenian Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, who has been working on editing and preparing the book for publication over the past years.

This event presents probably the most comprehensive overview of Bohinj mountaineering to date, including an outstanding selection of photographs and valuable information. It also highlights the personal stories and reflections of Bohinj’s majers and majers, who are part of our common history and culture.
