Constructive Alps, exhibition opening

You are kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition of the Costructive Alps architectural competition, which rewards sustainable construction and renovation in the Alpine Convention Area. At the opening, we will discuss the path of renovation with the Karničar couple; their Šenk Homestead in Zgornje Jezersko is the winner of a special mention in the last competition. Maruša Zorec, a member of the international jury, will also be on the panel.
Two of the nominated projects for the prize were from Bohinj.
The exhibition will be opened and placed in the context of the Alpine Convention by Alenka Smerkolj, Secretary General of the Alpine Convention. Blanka Bartol will then talk about its relationship to the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency.
The 6th Constructive Alps 2022 Architecture Prize competition was particularly rich for Slovenia, with three Slovenian projects shortlisted among the 31 projects. The exhibition comes in a year when the Triglav National Park and Slovenian nature conservation celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Alpine Conservation Park and Slovenia’s presidency of the Alpine Convention.
You will see the award-winning and nominated projects and see that sustainable architecture has many faces – it shapes the identity of places and creates spaces where people feel good. The Constructive Alps travelling exhibition features examples of best practice in sustainable architecture that have been nominated for the eponymous architecture prize.
Thirty exhibition panels reveal the experts’ view, while also highlighting users’ perspectives on the built and renovated houses, kindergartens, leisure facilities and community centres. Many projects emphasise the importance of community life and focus on the social dimension of architecture.
Among the award-winning projects was the renovation of the Šenk Homestead in Jezersko, while the nominated projects included the Hotel Bohinj and the bridge at Na Rju.
The exhibition will be on display at the Stara Fužina Cultural Centre until 7 July 2024 during the opening hours of the neighbouring TIC Stara Fužina.
