Ana Pupedan’s musical output could be defined as a mixture of different musical styles, whose common denominator is found in the rockers. The lyrics, whose fundamental characteristic is a lucid view of the world, life and social events, contribute a great deal to the picturesqueness of their music. The lyrics are mostly in Slovene, often spiced with authentic Pivka dialect, which emphasises the musicians’ belonging and involvement in the local environment in which they create their musical mileage.

Last November, the Pupedance celebrated 30 years of unchanged line-up, which is the exception rather than the rule on the Slovenian music scene. For three decades, Ana Pupedan has been made up of Boštjan Požar on guitar, Simon Avsec on vocals and violin, Peter Žnidaršič on bass guitar and Marko Doles on drums.

The year 2022 has been a very fruitful one for Anna Pupedan in all respects. In October, the fifth studio album with twelve fresh songs was released under the title Naši v kantini (Ours in the canteen). The material for the album was recorded in the spring of 2022 at the JORK Dekani studio under the production wand of Jadran Ogrin, legendary bassist of many pioneering rock bands such as Kameleoni, September, Karamela, Halo…. Much of the credit for the recording and production goes to Gabrijel Ogrin, who runs the Dekani studio together with Jadran.

Over the last three decades, Ana Pupedan has toured Slovenia and played well over 1500 concerts. They have toured abroad several times, visiting the USA, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Last year they toured Sarajevo, where they celebrated the National Day on 24 June and performed at a concert event organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo. The following day, they performed at the legendary Sarajevo club AG.
