Where is the end of the world, and what is the Zlatorog Fairy Tale Trail?

Nine characters from Bohinj folk tales await you along the Zlatorog Fairy Tale Trail. Seven of them are located in Ukanc along a 2-kilometer loop trail, one is at the parking lot at the Ukanc/Vogel/Savica Waterfall intersection, and another is at the entrance to Savica Waterfall.

This is no ordinary event. It’s something special. It takes place along a two-kilometer trail that leads you along the river, through the forest, across meadows, and past Lake Bohinj. While the area is usually quiet throughout the year, seven characters from Bohinj fairy tales await you with wooden play equipment. But during the “fairytale” weekend, things come alive—there are about 30 stations along the route—about 30 opportunities for children to move around, learn something through play, get creative, or simply develop their senses.

Upon entering the fairy-tale trail, children receive a booklet featuring fairy-tale creatures and 9 stickers that they can stick in the booklet and color.

An adult can walk the entire route in half an hour, but with children, it’s certainly impossible to experience everything in a single day, even though the event starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m. Come join us—gain new knowledge and take home wonderful memories.

• 3.00 € per person (includes a booklet for children up to 14 years of age; free for children up to 2 years of age)

• Tickets must be purchased at least 1 day before the event by 12:00 PM at www.bohinj.si or at the event.

How do I get to the event?

• We ask all our visitors to use public transportation to get to the event.

BY TRAIN:

You can reach Bohinjska Bistrica by taking the morning train from Jesenice/Ljubljana or from Nova Gorica, and then continue your journey via free organized transportation.

BY REGULAR BUS LINE:

For visitors who would like to travel by bus, bus service is available from Ljubljana (get off at the Vogel intersection) – Schedule.

BY PANORAMIC BOAT:

Children up to 14 years of age ride for free, and adult companions are offered transportation to and from the event at a 40% discount.
