Music that fills the valley, and summer that keeps people outside
In Bohinj, music isn’t just an extra in the summer—it’s part of everyday life. As the first outdoor evenings begin, it quickly becomes clear that every part of the valley has its own character and its own sound. The summer of 2026 brings together several regular music series that, taken together, create the feeling that there’s always something happening in Bohinj.
Village Evenings Under the Linden Tree
Mondays in Srednja Vas remain one of the most authentic summer experiences. Locals and visitors gather under the linden tree, and the program stays true to tradition: local performers, bell ringers, folk groups, and ensembles from the valley.
These are the evenings that foster a sense of community and home.
Tuesday evenings in Stara Fužina
Stara Fužina has its own rhythm in the summer. Tuesday evenings are relaxed, lively, and always well-attended. In addition to music, the local market, culinary offerings, and handmade crafts also play an important role in creating a true summer atmosphere in the village.
It’s an event where people stop by, chat, try some local specialties, and end up staying longer than they intended.
BistricaFest
BistricaFest is a series of summer outdoor concerts that brings the area in front of the Joža Ažman Cultural Center in Bohinjska Bistrica to life on Saturdays in July and August. The program features a variety of musical evenings—ranging from rap, indie rock, and reggae to pop rock and swing.
The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with the Library in the Park, the MUSIC market, and offerings from the Lintvern Brewery, which create a relaxed afternoon atmosphere ahead of the evening concerts. The concert program begins at 8:30 p.m.
In case of bad weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Cultural Center.
Bohinj Summer Music Festival
For classical music lovers, the Bohinj Summer Music Festival is the part of the summer program that offers a more peaceful, contemplative musical experience. The concerts are mostly held at the Joža Ažman Cultural Center in Bohinjska Bistrica, where summer evenings are filled with the sounds of selected classical music pieces and performances by outstanding musicians.
This year’s program also includes two classical concerts for children—musical fairy tales—which will take place in Ceconi Park. The Bohinj Summer Music Festival thus appeals to both regular classical music listeners and the youngest audience members, who are introduced to classical music through stories, play, and imagination.
Nocturnal Visits to the Sweethearts
Nocturnal Visits to the Sweethearts is one of those events where Bohinj takes a step back in time. Through song, humor, and the Bohinj dialect, this traditional play brings to life the old courtship customs of the past, when young men would court young women beneath their windows, trying to win their favor. This is a tradition you won’t want to miss!
Bohinj night
Bohinj Night remains the biggest summer event in Bohinj.
Music, socializing, food stalls, and visitors from near and far come together to create an evening that lasts late into the night. This year’s Bohinj Night will feature a musical lineup provided by Romana Kranjčan and Plesalnica Bohinj, Rok’n’band, Šank Rock, and DJ Florett.
This is an event familiar to anyone who has ever spent a summer in Bohinj.
Music Evenings at Danica
Fridays at Danica’s offer relaxed evenings with drinks and good music. The lineup is diverse—ranging from acoustic performances to vocal groups—and creates a pleasant atmosphere for anyone looking for a peaceful musical way to end the week.
A Salute to Triglav
A Salute to Triglav is one of the most recognizable summer traditions. It is a short cultural and musical event held at the monument to the “Four Brave Men” in Ribčev Laz, dedicated to the memory of the first climbers to reach the summit of Triglav. The evening, filled with music, tradition, and the spirit of mountaineering, concludes with the traditional “Salute to Triglav.”
That's not all!
In addition to concerts, summer events in Bohinj also include movie nights, sports challenges, guided tours, markets, and local experiences. Cinema under Triglav in Stara Fužina offers free outdoor movie nights, botanical excursions to Črna prst and Vogel provide a glimpse into the mountain flora, and at the end of August, the Triathlon of Steel adds a burst of athletic energy to the summer.
Summer is also a time for flavors, crafts, and getting to know the local community. Every Saturday, the Saturday Market in Bohinjska Bistrica comes to life; this summer, we’ve also added a Wednesday market. You can also experience the local market at Camp Danica, and at the “Bite Bohinj” event, local flavors are showcased in the form of Bohinj-style street food. The Štala at the Mrcina Ranč adds a special summer atmosphere, where evenings are filled with stories, socializing, and authentic connections with the local community.
All of this comes together to create a summer in which Bohinj is not just a backdrop, but a place for encounters, experiences, and authentic stories.
