Tomaž Godec Museum in Bohinjska Bistrica is arranged in the birth house of Tomaž Godec (1905-1942), a local tanner who was known as a skier and organizer of sports in Bohinj. The Godec memorial for cross country skiing is named after him. He was the first partisan in Bohinj and he contributed to the uprising of the people in Bohinj against the German occupation in 1941
The renovated premises of the museum are intended for a permanent exhibition on the history of Bohinj from the first settlement in prehistory to the First and Second World Wars. The richness of the past is visible in the economic activities, customs, language, and many creative people of Bohinj. Part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to leatherwork.
The museum organizes interesting occasional exhibitions, museum evenings and occasional workshops for children and adults.
