Paragliding

A tandem paragliding flight in Bohinj is a unique experience. You can take off from the Vogar viewpoint or from Vogel; both locations offer breathtaking views of Bohinj and the Julian Alps. On a clear day, the view stretches all the way to the sea.

Bohinj offers ideal thermal conditions for longer tandem paragliding flights. We offer a choice of takeoff sites at altitudes above 1,000 m: from Vogel or Vogar. We glide over Lake Bohinj, the high-altitude mountains, and the picturesque Mostnica Gorge. The best time to fly is in May and June, when the contrasts between the snow-capped mountains, the lake, and the spring greenery in the valley are at their most striking. During a photo tandem flight at that time, you can capture stunning images through your lens.

Tandem flight from Vogel

A tandem paragliding flight from Vogel is an adrenaline-fuelled experience with spectacular views of the Julian Alps, Lake Bohinj and the entire Bohinj Valley.

There are three take-off points on the Vogel, the most recommended of which is the one reached by the Orlove glave chairlift. The take-off point, which is less than 100 metres from the top of the Orlove glave, is also ideal in winter. The flight starts at an altitude of 1650 m above sea level. You will land in the bathing area at the Kramar Guesthouse on the shores of Lake Bohinj (530 m above sea level). The length of the flight depends on the wind conditions, but on average it takes about 20 minutes, as there is an altitude difference of over 1100 m.

Tandem flight from Vogar

With a paraglider, you’ll fly in tandem with an experienced pilot or paragliding instructor.

No prior experience is required for a tandem flight. All you need are good hiking boots and a little “courage.” The paragliding instructor or tandem pilot will explain what you need to do at the takeoff site and upon landing.

Vogar is located on the northern shore of Lake Bohinj. The elevation difference between takeoff and landing is 500 m. A paragliding flight lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, but the duration of the flight is extremely difficult to predict, as it depends on current weather conditions.

General instructions for paraglider pilots

Be aware of the valley wind.
When the general forecast calls for a southwesterly wind, stronger gusts are possible in the valley due to the Föhn effect.
We advise against flying when stronger winds from the north are forecast.
Landing in unregistered areas within the Triglav National Park is prohibited and subject to penalties.
Landing in tall grass is prohibited. In the event of an emergency landing, move your equipment to a suitable location and store it there.
Check the airspace regulations before flying.
Takeoff and landing are permitted only at official takeoff and landing sites.
