Music Summer Festival in Bohinj
The Bohinj Music Summer is a traditional festival of chamber and classical music that has been bringing together world-class musicians, the summer atmosphere of Bohinj, and the unique experience of listening to music at select venues in Bohinj for more than three decades.
Every year, the festival brings domestic and international musicians to Bohinj and offers audiences a diverse program of chamber concerts—ranging from wind and brass ensembles to piano trios, nonets, and a flute recital as part of the summer flute seminar.
In 2026, the Bohinj Music Summer will feature musical fairy tales for children for the first time. Through storytelling, music, and imagination, our youngest listeners will be able to discover instruments, stories, and the world of classical music in a playful, accessible, and family-friendly way.
Bohinj Music Summer Concert Series
Masterclasses with renowned professors
In 2023, the festival was taken over by the young and talented musicians Eva Jensterle, Jerca Novak, and Urška Zupan, who infused the program with new energy through their fresh ideas. In 2024, in addition to a rich concert program, the festival offered masterclasses for the first time, led by the renowned professor Ilze Urbane. Due to the high level of interest and the successful execution, the masterclasses will continue in 2026 as well.
Flute Masterclass
Every summer, concerts featuring world-renowned musicians are held at an idyllic location in a small church atop a hill, where a breathtaking view of the Bohinj Basin can be enjoyed.
This year, for the third time as part of the festival, a seminar on flute will be held in addition to the concerts.
The master class for the flute will take place between 17. and 21. In August, with renowned professor Jan Ostry, who teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MUK Wien), the Prague Conservatory, and the University of Ostrava. Joining him as a guest this year will be Slovenian flutist Aleksandra Pleterski, who has been a member of the renowned Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic since September 2025.
Registration for the seminar is now closed, but as part of the Bohinj Music Summer concert series, you are cordially invited to a concert featuring Professor Jan Ostrý, pianist Mateja Hladnik, and participants in the flute seminar. The concert will be 20. August, at 8:30 p.m., at the Joža Ažman Cultural Center.
