Music Summer Festival in Bohinj

Master Classes
In 2026, alongside concerts, renowned professors will once again be holding masterclasses, following the success of last year’s programme. If you’re looking to hone your musical skills, the seminars in Bohinj offer the perfect opportunity to combine business with pleasure, bringing together music and nature in harmony.

The Bohinj Music Summer Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! For two decades, it has been weaving together music and nature, art and experience, and every summer it fills Bohinj with world-class musical events.

Events
Masterclasses with renowned professors
In 2023, the festival was taken over by the young and talented musicians Eva Jensterle, Jerca Novak, and Urška Zupan, who infused the program with new energy through their fresh ideas. In 2024, in addition to a rich concert program, the festival offered masterclasses for the first time, led by the renowned professor Ilze Urbane. Due to the high level of interest and the successful execution, the masterclasses will continue in 2026 as well.
Flute Masterclass
Every summer, concerts featuring world-renowned musicians are held at an idyllic location in a small church atop a hill, where a breathtaking view of the Bohinj Basin can be enjoyed.
This year, for the third time as part of the festival, a seminar on flute will be held in addition to the concerts.
The master class for the flute will take place between 17. and 21. In August, with renowned professor Jan Ostry, who teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MUK Wien), the Prague Conservatory, and the University of Ostrava. Joining him as a guest this year will be Slovenian flutist Aleksandra Pleterski, who has been a member of the renowned Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic since September 2025.
A concert featuring the seminar participants alongside Professor Jan Ostry is to be held on 20 August as part of the Bohinj Music Summer concert series.
Active and passive participation in the seminar is possible.

The seminar is designed for college and high school students who wish to advance their skills in professional flute performance, are preparing for auditions and competitions, or want to refine their playing technique—all in the inspiring setting of idyllic Bohinj.
The seminar will take place in the Hall of the Joža Ažman Cultural Centre in Bohinjska Bistrica.
Each active participant will receive four individual lessons with a professor—three with Prof. Jan Ostrý and one with Aleksandra Pleterski. The renowned accompanist Tadej Horvat will also be present during the lessons.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend a breathing exercises workshop led by Eva Jensterle.

Accommodation during the seminar
Participants are responsible for their own accommodation and meals. Lunch will be available at a reasonable price at a participating restaurant in the immediate vicinity.

Seminar Registration Form
As part of the “Musical Summer in Bohinj” concert series, a concert will be held at the Church of St. Martin and Srednja vas on Thursday, the 21st In July, a concert by Professor Jan Ostrý and pianist Tadej Horvat.
On Saturday, August 23, there will be a closing concert featuring the participants in the auditorium of the Joža Ažman Cultural Center.
