In 2021, Bohinj reached an important milestone, becoming the first Slovenian destination to be awarded the Platinum Slovenia Green label. This highest recognition within the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism confirms Bohinj as a leading destination in sustainable tourism in Slovenia.
The Platinum label is the result of years of dedicated efforts in responsible management of nature, cultural heritage, and tourism development based on preserving authenticity and respecting the local community.

Alpine Pearls
Alpine Pearls is an association that connects 18 tourist destinations in Austria, Germany, Italy, and Slovenia, all committed to developing sustainable tourism. The association’s mission is to promote environmentally friendly forms of mobility and responsible management of natural and cultural resources, contributing to the preservation of the Alpine environment.
Bohinj, long renowned for its sustainable practices and exceptional natural beauty, is a key member of this prestigious association. The Municipality of Bohinj became a full member of Alpine Pearls on July 1, 2017, reaffirming its commitment to developing sustainable tourism and promoting eco-friendly mobility, which allows visitors to authentically experience the Alpine world.

Best Tourism Villages 2022
In 2022, Bohinj was awarded the title of Best Tourism Village by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This prestigious title recognizes destinations that stand out for their commitment to sustainable tourism, the preservation of natural and cultural heritage, and development that supports local communities.

In 2018, European Best Destinations ranked Bohinj among the top ten destinations to visit in Europe.
