TOMAŽ GODEC MUSEUM
Presentation of Bohinj’s rich cultural heritage.
The Bohinj History Museum in Bohinjska Bistrica is housed in the birthplace of Tomaž Godec (1905-1942), a local leatherworker who was well-known as a skier and sports organiser in Bohinj; the Godec Cross-Country Skiing Memorial is named after him. He was the first Bohinj partisan and contributed to the uprising of the Bohinj people against the German occupation in 1941.
The renovated museum premises are dedicated to a permanent exhibition on the history of Bohinj, from the first settlement in prehistoric times to the First and Second World Wars. The richness of the past is visible in the economic activities, the customs, the language, the many creative Bohinj people. Part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to leatherwork.
The museum organises interesting temporary exhibitions, museum evenings and occasional workshops for children and adults.

The permanent exhibition offers an overview of the entire history of Bohinj earliest periods
until the Second World War.

Group tickets are valid for groups of 10 people or more. For every 21 persons, 1 person is free of charge. Students, pupils and people over 65 years of age are entitled to a discount on the basis of proof.
