The hut is located on the lower part of the Uskovnica alpine pasture, on the southeastern edge of the Pokljuka plateau above the Bohinj valley and the Voje valley. It is surrounded by former shepherds’ huts, now converted into holiday cottages. Built by the Bohinj–Srednja vas Mountaineering Club, it was opened in 1955 and has since been renovated and energy-updated. The hut has electricity, heating and running water.
The dining room offers 60 seats; there are 13 beds in 7 rooms and 17 additional beds in shared dormitories. One room is adapted for disabled guests. Warm and cold meals, drinks and storage for equipment are available. The hut is a proud holder of the Green Key sustainability label, proving its commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
Beautiful views open toward the surrounding peaks, and the area is a starting point for many hiking routes and connections to nearby mountain huts. Access is possible on foot or via a forest road from Srednja vas or Rudno polje.
