Bohinj, with its natural iron ore resources, the mystical landscape around the Church of St. John the Baptist at the lake shore, the ancient Ajdovski gradec and the mysterious world of old tales are always tempting for explorers and visitors alike. The picturesque landscape, shaped by the local people over the centuries, cultural remains, customs and traditions can only be better known and experienced by an expert. Local archaeologist Mija Ogrin will guide you through ancient Bohinj on foot.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPERIENCE

The route will take you from the St. Hemma in Nomenj, past Ajdovski gradec, which was inhabited 2500 years ago, past Brod, the birthplace of the writer Dr Janez Mencinger, to the Church of St. John the Baptist on the shores of Lake Bohinj, which stands on the site of an ancient shrine. Afterwards, take a break at the Pri Foksnerju restaurant in Ribčev Laz, where you will taste the Bohinj Gauner burger. After a hearty lunch, you will follow the panoramic forest trail to Bohinjska Bistrica.
