It is a custom in Bohinj that when you go to the mountains, you should not miss a sausage with snaps, cheese and a clove of garlic to go with it. Sometimes they carried their snacks in wooden boxes called deža. During the journey, they rested on a stump by the side of the path, cut a piece of bread with a piper, spread it thickly with zaska, added a “wheel” of sausage and a bit of cheese. Garlic for the “top” to prevent the fat from sticking.
