The Uskovnica Mountain Hut is located at an altitude of 1,154 meters on the southeastern edge of the Pokljuka plateau. It serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the Julian Alps, perfect for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists, and families who enjoy spending time outdoors.
Managed by the Srednja vas v Bohinju Alpine Association, the hut was built in 1955 and has undergone several renovations, the most recent one in 2021, which brought a fresh new look inside and out. Built on the values of sustainability, hospitality, and authenticity, the hut promotes responsible environmental practices, efficient use of resources, and collaboration with local suppliers. It proudly holds certifications such as the Green Key, Slovenia Green, and Bohinjsko/From Bohinj, confirming its dedication to nature conservation and local development.
Facilities and Comfort:
The dining area, which seats 60 guests, offers delicious, fresh, and seasonal dishes with a focus on local ingredients. Accommodation includes 7 rooms with 13 beds, one of which is wheelchair accessible, as well as shared sleeping quarters for an additional 17 people. All rooms are equipped with bathrooms, and the spaces feature underfloor heating for added comfort.
Access:
From the parking area at Rudno Polje on Pokljuka, it takes about 1 hour on foot to reach the Uskovnica mountain hut. You can also hike to the hut via marked mountain trails from Srednja vas (approx. 1 hour and 40 minutes) or from Stara Fužina (approx. 2 hours).
