SKI TOURING IN BOHINJ
The mountains in Bohinj offer the best possibilities for ski touring in Slovenia.

The ski touring season can last from December to May if the weather conditions are suitable. For the best possible experience, we recommend you to hire an experienced guide.
Some tours are easier (Rodica, mountains around the Pokljuka plateau, some tours on Mt Komna), and basic skiing knowledge is quite sufficient if you are joined by an appropriate guide and if you ski in good weather conditions; however, there are also some extremely demanding ski tours possible.
The best ski tour in the lower Bohinj mountains is most certainly to Mt Rodica. The surroundings of Mt Vogel also offer great opportunities for ski touring. Mt Komna as a ski touring paradise is quite popular in Slovenia and around the world, and recently, skiers also found some great terrain on the Fužinarske Planine pastures.
Bohinj also offers the most popular and the longest ski tour in the entire Julian Alps – a tour that starts on Mt Kanjavec and ends in Stara Fužina village. It encompasses 2000 m elevation and is 15 km long.
After a fresh snowfall, when higher mountains are more risky for snow slides, we recommend visiting slopes of Kobla in Bohinjska Bistrica. These are also perfect if you are a complete beginner. You can reach the starting point with a car and then enjoy a rocks and woods free ski touring experience.
